dad-isms:

So many times in life it isn’t what is being said that you need to pay attention to as much as it is about the way a person looks or sounds when the message is delivered.
In the early 1960’s, Albert Mehrabian discovered that  55% of communication is body language, 38% is tonality/pace/volume, and a mere 7% was reserved for word content.
This is why the more competent, but poor communicating middle manager is passed over for the more affable and polished boss…
This is why a beautiful woman is still available after her 20th boyfriend…
This is why sweet Grandma’s are the picked to pitch products on television…
Since most of your life will be spent around others, to me, this is one of the most important things I have told you

I was recently told at my job that people think I’m a condescending asshole, in so many words. At first I was hurt, then I realized I probably come across that way.
